Occupy Tally coverage: abortion in FL teach-in

On the 11th of April, as night fell over Occupy Tally (Occupy Tallahassee), a physician held a teach-in on the gritty details of abtaining abortion in FL and other unfriendly states, with or without the consent of Christian nationalist politicians and their repressive, misogynistic laws.

Another successful Drag Queen Story Hour defense in DC

On the 8th of April, another drag queen story hour was successfully held on Barrack’s Row in SE Washington DC. A stout defense by umbrella-wielding drag defenders deterred anyone from mounting a serious attack and shielded the kids and performers from low level harassment.

Weeks ago, an attempt by Proud Boys to forcibly break throught similar defenses in Silver Spring was defeated outright. This time around, they didn’t even try.

Tampa rally held in solidarity with Occupy Tallahassee arrestees for abortion rights

On the 3ed of April, as the Florida Senate rammed through the SB 300 six week abortion ban, eleven protesters were arrested for holding their ground NOT at the Florida state house (considered too dangerous to engage) but rather at Tallahassee’s city hall. A democratic Mayor sided with Ron DeSantis and ordered their arrests. On the 8th of April, a solidarity protest was held in Tampa, FL both to pressure prosecutors to drop the charges and to promote Occupy Tallahassee starting right back up again on Monday, April 10.

Swarm of anti-Trump protesters in NYC forces MTG to run for it as Trump surrenders to 34 felonies

Donald Trump’s surrender and arraignment on 34 felony counts drew duelling protests to NYC, but anti-Trump protesters had the edge. Marjorie Taylor Greene was supposed to be the star of the pro-Trump protest but she had to abandon her attempt to appear and run for it (with a massive security escort) when anti-Trump protesters swarmed her attempt to enter the area.

Many details at: https://twitter.com/JBGC_DMV/status/1643055988130340864

Especially ugly and the core of the threat is his Instagram video as reposted here: https://twitter.com/JBGC_DMV/status/1643056006870491137

In that video Adam first shows the flier for the Trans Day of Vengeance, then a video game scene of first person shooter characters shooting up a crowded shopping mall. Adam Michael Murray was arrested in Baltimore, 17 hours from his home. He said “be there in about 20 hours. Protect your kids.” This combined with gun range photos with “troubling” hashtags and a blizzard of hate from the rest of the far-right led to the conclusion that to hold the event as planned risked exposing participants to the risk of being murdered by a mass shooter. Thus the event was cancelled, as saving trans lives was the objective

Occupy Tallahassee protesters against FL’s SB 300 abortion ban arrested

On April 3ed, the first day of their occupation, Occupy Tallahasse protesters were mass arrested. They were holding ground againsts FL’s SB 300 6 week (near total) abortion ban bill.

This obscene bill passed the FL Senate minutes after the galleries were cleared of witnesses. One of the arrestees was Florida President of the Democratic Party Nikki Fried.

This while elsewhere in the South, in Tennesee, GOP state reps attempted to EXPEL Democrats who sided with protesters there from their state legislature.

Democracy in the US is just about dead. Care to guess what comes next?
