We just had another violent election-related incident: in South Carolina someone wearing a MAGA hat assaulted poll workers presumably at an early voting site.
Between the earlier machete attack in Florida and the ballot box arsons in Portland and Vancouver,WA Trump’s people have quite literally taken up fire and sword against the last vestiges of democracy in the US.
NBC News reports that an 18 year old MAGA meathead with a machete “menaced” two voters at a polling place in Neptune Beach, Florida on Tuesday.
This incident apparently blew up out of an incident where Trump supporters confronted a group of sign-waving Harris supporters. The machete-wielder was one of the Trump supporters of course.
I have heard reports of other incidents in FL but this is the first one so far involving a deadly weapon.By definition this is an armed attack by a Trump supporter on Harris supporters at a polling place.
Machetes waved at voters, firebombs in ballot boxes, and potentially firearms in the hands of glowering militiamen are not tools of even fake democracy. Rather they are being used by the StormTrumpers in an effort to throw off even the veneer of democracy, and rule openly as a dictator.
Interesting though that Trump’s people have the cojones to burn ballot boxes presumably in opposition areas. Most dictators settle for stuffing them.
On the 30th of October, students at University of Central Florida gathered by the fountain for an emergency protest for Gaza. This emergency protest was held as Isra-Hell has declared that all surviving residents who refuse to move to (where?) shall be considered enemy combatants, which implies they can be shot, bombed, or burned alive on sight, children included.
This comes as CIA-backed mercenaries are proposing to resurrect the Vietnam-era plan of “strategic hamlets” under another name. This means locked and guarded fake communities everyone is required to move into or submit to being executed as an enemy combatant. This is at least 1930’s style ghettoes if not concentration camps-and the former have a way of turning into the latter.
Palestine protests at UCF emphasize that the University must divest from this horror and entirely halt cooperation with arms dealers that sell to Israeli murderers. Lockheed-Martin has been named as one example.
The protest went of clean without a hitch. A pack of bike cops was spotted near the scene of the protest as everyone was dispersing but they did not engage.
For all the hornet’s nest of new anti-protest rules at UCF, they are still not able to simply ban all protests outright. No doubt that is their intention but activists are going to make that very difficult or impossible.
There is also the fact that if protest is outlawed, only outlaws can protest with all that that implies

Vancouver, WA’s KATU TV 2 reports one ballot box burned with hundreds of ballots damaged and an incendiary device found in a second ballot box.
The far-right has been discussing this online for MONTHS. If this is traced to pro-Trump operatives it is a declaration of war on democracy itself. If the election detonates into civil war, this attack might even be considered one of the opening shots of it by some historians.

Now a break from the gutter trash talk from Madison Square Garden: hundreds take to the streets for one of Orlando’s biggest Critical Mass bike rides, the pre-Halloween ride
As the sound of chain saws fills the air and wood smoke rises from burning debris, we took time out to burn some MAGA trash. Debris from a hurricane of hate burns over debris from a hurricane of wind and water.

As the IMF and World Bank once again met in DC, climate protesters marched on them. Demands included an end to fossil fuel subsidies and financing a transition to renewable energy instead.
As of Oct 24, much of the Internet Archive is back online in read-only mode. Video streaming and embeds are still offline as that requires javascript and a player engine which may not yet have been verified safe.
All the videos hosted at archive.org as of now can be downloaded from the site. Here’s how:
1: open the article and (in Firefox note that I do not use Chrome at all) right-click on the page and select “view page source.” When that opens, right-click again and select “select all.”
2: Paste that into a text editor window and run a string search for “archive.org/embed” to get the URL of the video.
3: Replace “embed” with “download” in the URL and navigate to that archive.org page.
4:This will show a list of files, download the video and play it locally in your video player.
5:Concerning local playback issues: MPV, VLC etc are all known to work well on Linux systems. I don’t have any windows or Apple systems but the only thing I get playback problem complaints about is iOS (iPhone) which I have no way to debug beyond making sure all files play with no reported errors when opening in mpv from terminal.
The overall scene at Orlando’s Pride parade was as festive as ever. This scene (in the video) was especially nice.
The election though was just two weeks and three days away. Thus, I felt a dark forboding that this could be our LAST peacetime Pride.
Many others may have sensed this, though they reacted differently. Everyone I made conversation with did NOT want to discuss politics.
Eight years minus 15 days ago, I watched the 2016 election results roll in on the big screen TV at a Gay club. One of the first results in was some rural county in the Carolinas, going over 70% for Trump. The feeling we all had was that of sitting in a Berlin Gay club in 1932, watching Hitler get elected.
